Commercially, the last year was too good for Paramount Pictures, and the makers are expecting a lot from this year as well which will start production with ’80 for Brady’ on February 3, 2023[1]. And in fact, no big blockbuster, but the sports comedy-drama seems to be giving a decent start to the makers, expected by critics and experts because of its positive word of mouth and popularity genre film. Anyway, it is a small-budgeted film, but success is a success.

The film from the popular genre of sports comedy, ’80 for Brady’ has projected to gross $12-15 million on its opening weekend from over 3800 theatres in North America— not an outstanding but a decent debut for a low-costed film and also for production. The numbers are decent, but no denying that ’80 for Brady’ opens with one of the anticipated films, ‘Knock at the Cabin’, and the buzz surrounding Universal’s horror thriller is on another level, and under these circumstances, ’80 for Brady’s debut is too well.

The word of mouth of ’80 for Brady’ is good but not enough to drive the audience to theaters after the opening weekend, so its lifetime run depends a lot on the buzz. And that’s why the total numbers of ’80 for Brady’ aren’t that spectacular right now, which currently stands at $40-45 million domestically and $55-60 million globally. It is a matter of excellence here, but from the perspective of success and production, then as an $25 million budgeted film, the current projection is a soft sign of success and money-making for the makers. In addition, it will be Paramount’s first success.
