Damien Chazelle’s period drama ‘Babylon’ is set to theatrical debut this Friday[1]. Even though it’s Christmas time—the golden time to release movies— it doesn’t look good for ‘Babylon‘ in terms of the box office. At the beginning of the year, ‘Babylon’ was considered an exceptional film, but now, it looks disappointing; neither the immense buzz of the film nor the reviews are in favor. It was not so less that ‘Babylon’ will compete with films like ‘Avatar: The Way of Water’ and ‘Puss in Boots 2‘ at the box office, and it is easy to understand what will be the consequences.

Nothing is good from the box office point of view, and now even the production and experts do not have much hope for the film, which comes with a massive cast of Brad Pitt and Margot Robbie. As per reports, critics and experts expect ‘Babylon’ to gross $6-8 million in over 3300 theaters on its opening weekend in North America, which is a much worse and disappointing debut for production, which spent a decent amount to produce the film.

As per California Film Commission, makers spent around $110 million to produce the film, and leaving the break-even aside, due to the lack of buzz and being an R-rated film, collecting only $100 million over a lifetime run is currently impossible for ‘Babylon’. The lifetime gross expectations from ‘Babylon’ are at $20-35 million and $50-60 million globally, which means ‘Babylon’ is going to be a box office disaster and a total loss for makers and distributors.

There’s no doubt that ‘Babylon’ is set to be a box office loss, but this will not make much difference to Paramount as the year 2022 has been very good, thanks to ‘Top Gun: Maverick’, ‘Sonic 2’, ‘The Lost City’‘, ‘Scream 5’, and ‘Smile’.

  1. The movie dies not depend on one actor. To say brad pitt career is on the decline is offensive and obviously written by Angelina paid person

  2. Movie studios clearly are responsible theses last two years and someone should be fired. Bad scripts. Poor directing. Bad trailers. Bad release dates. Putting movies up against block busters. You can’t hold actors responsible for that. We see with fablemen and other movies. Plus expectations of revenue when people are not going back to see movies other than big pictures like avatar. Is disquieting abd shameful to blame on an actor and quite concerned. Do you make those comments about every actor in poor film since 80% did not do well. You should be ashamed for such poor reporting Why you only posting pictures of mr pitt he is not lead. Mr Diego is are you blaming him and Margot. You don’t understand the change of movies

    Is this targeted har*ssment

  4. Times have changed with education the newer generation is more sophisticated there is a much more realistic civilized behaviour. More transparent more truth . People are no longer entertained by bad behaviour lifestyles that are a bunch wild drunks it’s old.

  5. That’s the Director responsibility

The newer generation responsible for the hate and target harras*ing on this world. They are less experienced and education has taught them nothing

  6. That’s why all the new young sports players are living wild lifestyle

Suicide is at all time high

Dr*g abuse at all time high between 15 and 40 year olds

  7. Just saw the movie today snd it broke all my records as being the absolute worst movie I’ve ever seen. Disjointed, vulgar, foolish, pathetic, and comical is all that comes to mind. A disgrace to movies everywhere and Hollywood should be embarrassed. Not one believable line in the entire fiasco. I was thinking God when it ended and tried to get my wife to leave before the first miserable hour and half of the three hour debacle of nonsense. Whoever approved this production and wrote this miserable script should be fired and banned from the industry. What a joke!!!!
