Recently released Idris Elba’s survival thriller ‘Beast’ has received mixed reviews from the audience and critics. It was praised for Idris’ performance but also criticized for its predictable content. Despite mixed reviews, Idris Elba’s ‘Beast’ has performed well at the box office and above expectations, but for now, ‘Beast’ does not appear to be doing well for production companies.
Is Beast Hit Or Flop?

According to reports, Universal Pictures’ Idris Elba starring survival thriller ‘Beast’, released in the USA on 19 August 2022 in more than 3700 theaters, collected est $4.31 million on its opening day and $11.57 million on its opening weekend at the domestic box office. Overall, ‘Beast’ has so far grossed $31.84 million domestically and $27.24 million overseas, for a worldwide total of $59.09 million[1].
Apparently, ‘Beast’ has opened well at the box office, and it has exceeded critics’ expectations, which were $10 million before its release. But compared to a reported production budget of $36 million, ‘Beast’ underperforms at the box office because Universal Pictures spent a massive amount on marketing and advertising. If estimated, the break-even mark for the film is around $90-100 million. $100 million is a decent amount, but ‘Beast’ does not seem to be grossing $100 million, and if we’re not mistaken, ‘Beast’ is a commercial failure.

In terms of critical response, ‘Beast’ is rated 5.6/10* on IMDb, and 68/100% on Rotten Tomatoes based on 205 reviews.
‘Beast’ is directed by Baltasar Kormákur, written by Ryan Engle and Jaime Primak Sullivan, and it stars Idris Elba, Sharlto Copley, Iyana Halley, and Leah Sava Jeffries. ‘Beast’ was produced under the production banners of Will Packer Productions and RVK Studios and distributed by Universal Pictures.
