According to reports, the musical romance drama ‘Cyrano’ released in the United States on Feb 25, 2022, in only 790 theatres, collected $471k on its opening day and $1.38 million on its opening weekend at the domestic (USA & Canada) box office. Overall, ‘Cyrano’ has so far collected $3.87 million at the domestic box office and $6.34 million at the worldwide box office, including $2.46 million international box office[1]. While the budget for the ‘Cyrano’ is $30 million.

Compared to the budget, the collection of ‘Cyrano’ is quite disappointing, and it is not difficult to guess that despite getting good reviews, the film has proved to be a complete failure at the box office. Overall, looking at the current performance at the box office, ‘Cyrano’ has been declared as a Flop film at the box office by news portals.

Everyone is watching that the film has proved to be a failure at the box office while receiving positive reviews, but there are many reasons for this. The first thing is that the film ‘Cyrano’ is clashing with many big films at the ticket window due to which the film is not getting any special screening in theaters, and the second thing is that the ‘Cyrano’ has been released at a too-small level and if we talk about the numbers, the film has been released in only 790 theaters. Whereas even a smaller budget film is released in 2000 theaters, whether in ‘Marry Me’ or ‘Dog’.

Talking about critical responses, then ‘Cyrano’ received a 6.3/10* IMDb rating based on 9k votes, and on Rotten Tomatoes it is scored 85/100% based on 241 reviews.

  1. Is there a point to prove in “recreating”
A movie that radically treats the original like it was a failure. Arrogance is not a good place start and it was one of the main ingredients in this film proves it. Added politically correctness and a sad excuse for a “musical” score don’t add a thing at all. The West Side Story update proved that it can be done successfully. Money and arrogance don’t make a better movie.

  2. Plus Dinklage was dumb enough to criticize the remake of Snow White and the Seven Dwarves because of the Dwarves being in it resulting in their removal. People grew up loving those dwarves. Remaking Snow White without them is idiotic and he’s a primary reason. We’re boycotting his movie because of it.

  3. One of the most famous actors in the world who’s success is at least in partial due to being a dwarf and a good actor at times. This man then shits on others who share some of his traits being used in a movie whos title include such traits as wrong. Way to shut to door on all the rest of us coming up with our own burdens to bare and skills to share. Peter, you seem spiteful and self loathing, please do those things off by yourself while other talented folks from all backgrounds go to work.

  4. So an agenda pushing remake that treats the original like it was an incorrect “first try” fails. And the producers, critics, and star can’t figure out why? The phrase “go woke, go broke” comes to mind. And it shows how out of touch Hollywood remains. Roxanne did a much better job remaking this.
