No matter how bad August was at the box office, it has gone well for Sony Pictures’ super low-budget ‘The Invitation’. Sony Pictures supernatural horror drama ‘The Invitation’ was released on 26 August 2022 in theaters, and the film mostly received poor reviews from critics and the audience. But despite this, ‘The Invitation’ has performed too well at the box office, which is really out of the box and impressive.
Is The Invitation Hit Or Flop?
As per reports, Nathalie Emmanuel starrer ‘The Invitation’, released in the USA on 26 August 2022 in over 3100 theaters, collected $2.68 million on its opening day and $6.80 million on its opening weekend at the domestic box office. While ‘The Invitation’s total box office at $25.10 million domestically and $8.60 million overseas, for a worldwide total of $33.70 million.
There is no doubt, despite receiving poor reviews and being released alongside ‘Three Thousand Years of Longing’ and ‘Breaking’, Sony Pictures’ $10 million budgeted ‘The Invitation’ has performed excellent and is up to expectations at the box office, and it’s generate profit for makers because the film’s promotion was also negligible and considering this performance, 2022’s ‘The Invitation’ is a Hit film at the box office.
Even though ‘The Invitation’ is a successful film, it doesn’t have tremendous money-making potential for Sony Pictures. Still, after the failure of Sony’s and Brad Pitt’s big-budget ‘Bullet Train’, it will be a relief for Sony Pictures.
Talking about the critical response, then ‘The Invitation’ received a 5.2/10* IMDb rating, and on Rotten Tomatoes, it scored 26/100% based on 62 reviews.
