According to a verified source, Sony Pictures’ historical epic ‘The Woman King’ is a small-medium budget production with a production cost of just $50 million, excluding prints and advertising costs. It’s not a big deal, but still, ‘The Woman King’ is the fourth biggest theatrical release of 2022 from Sony Pictures, after ‘Uncharted’, ‘Bullet Train’, and ‘Morbius’.
Cathy Schulman, Viola Davis, Julius Tennon, and Maria Bello produced ‘The Woman King’ under the banners of TriStar Pictures, Welle Entertainment, JuVee Productions, Jack Blue Productions, and Entertainment One. According to reports, ‘The Woman King’ will be streaming on Netflix in the USA within four months of its theatrical release.
As per the studio, ‘The Woman King’ is a life of West African female fighters called ‘Agojie’, and it will showcase the heroism of the Black woman. Not only the studio, but the director and star cast are also quite confident about this film, and they are sure that the film will be very different and special for Hollywood for decades to come. But a lot of questions are being raised about the black-and-white aspect of the film; it may also affect the box office. Leaving all this news aside, it’s also true that if word of mouth is in favor of the film, nobody can stop it from succeeding.
