Despite being a binge-worthy film and being the direction by well-reputed Steven Spielberg, ‘The Fabelmans‘ has rejected by the audience at the ticket window, and sorry to say but compared to its $40 million production cost, ‘The Fabelmans’ is a total box office bomb. As per reports, the makers spent around $8.5 million on the film’s P&A apart from the production cost of $40 million, but for now, it is impossible to cover the cost, leaving aside the break-even point. Though the film is expected to recover its cost from digital and home media, that too is under a question mark.

  1. It won’t make its money back on home media. Lol you can’t even buy DVDs in the shops anymore. Most of the major supermarkets got rid of them early this year. However, as this movie has on;y been out for a week and a half, and still has to go round the globe, there’s still a chance of it making $80 million at the box office and becoming a small hit.

  2. This is surprising for a Spielberg movie, albeit a small one. It’s in a limited number of theaters but is ranked third this past weekend (12/11) in the $ average per theater. Don’t know if they’re going for a wider release

    1. Why is it a surprise that The Fabelmans is a flop because it’s a Spielberg film? West Side Story, TinTin, The Terminal, Lincoln, Hook, Always, 1941 – all Spielberg films, and all box office disasters, and that’s not all. Remember those?

      1. What disaster ? Are you serious ?
        Terminal 219M€ for 60M$ budget
        Tintin 373M$
        1941 : 92M$ for 35 M$ budget
        Always : 74M$ (x2 of the budget)
        Hook : 300M$ for 70M$ budget
        Lincoln : 275M$ for 65m$ budget
